West Yorkshire-based UK furniture manufacturer and retailer HSL has started the year in royal fashion after being honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.

The award primarily relates to the manufacturing side of our business but all the products we manufacture are sold exclusively in our stores.

  • Restaurants & cafes can operate a take-away service only
  • Government Announcement expected before the end of April outlining easing of restrictions throughout May
  • After several months of bad news about vaccine supply shortages and delays to the vaccination programme, this week brings better news of extra vaccinations being available in the coming weeks
  • Commercial rates waiver on applicable properties runs to 30th June 2021, no announcement has been made post that date yet

Costa opens a second small format store – Astwick Services – located on the northbound carriageway of the A1 midway between Stotford and Biggleswade.  This is Costa’s second small format Drive Thru – 1250 sq ft smaller store and is located adjacent to an existing BP pfs & convenience store. 

Costa opens Brynmwar Drive Thru – this is situated opposite Lakeside Retail Park anchored by Asda with Home Bargains, fronting the A467, to the south of Brynmwar town centre.

Costa – Carlisle, Kingstown Retail Park – a new eco pod situated adjacent to J44 of M6 to the north of Carlisle and fronting the A7.  The retail park is anchored by M&S Food Hall, Premier Inn, Currys and the eco pod lies at the front of the scheme and is the second new store opening in 2021 in Carlisle following London Road Drive Thru in February.

PMA sent a letter across to the chancellor last week requesting an urgent review of business rate payments post April 21.  Side stepping the Call for Evidence dates we are seeking decisions earlier to enable our businesses to plan for the future.  This has also been relayed on two BEIS calls last Friday and Weds.

John Sigler will be asking for info once again – please where you can support the request.  It will remain confidential and is 100% stats.  This really is key to a successful campaign.
